Christ Centered

In Him all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden.

Colossians 2:3

At Sonlight Academy the person of Christ is at the center of all we do. We believe that the sovereignty of God, the authority of His Word, the Lordship of Jesus Christ, and the power of the Holy Spirit are the foundations of education and all of life. We believe each child is an individual person, created by God, in His image, with unique gifts to be strengthened, weaknesses to be overcome, and an individual calling to be fulfilled. We view education as the process of discovering God's truth and relating to Him, ourselves, others, and the world He created. We seek to reveal to our students the beauty of God's world and cultivate ideas, habits, and understanding that will prepare them to be discerning, insightful, responsible, and creative participants in their communities as they seek to faithfully serve and honor Jesus Christ.

Literature Rich

Sonlight Academy students will learn from a literature-based curriculum. We make extensive use of living books to provide an educational experience that far surpasses the traditional textbook/worksheet education model.

We integrate quality literature selections with the topics being covered in other academic areas.  We believe that children learn best through story.

The use of living books “satisfies brilliant children and discovers intelligence in the dull. It secures attention, interest, and concentration, without effort on the part of the teacher or the taught. Children, I think, all children, so taught express themselves in forcible and fluent English and use a copious vocabulary.... “

3 Days Per Week

"The most Christian way to think about our households is that they are little "schools of love," places where we have one vocation, one calling: to form all who live here into lovers of God and neighbor." from Habits of The Household Justin Whitmel Earley
